Group Counselling
“ I offer in-person group counselling sessions in Vancouver and online sessions. My in-person group counselling sessions are based in East Vancouver and I use the Jane App for online group counselling sessions. I offer group counselling on Understanding Abuse, and Connections.”
Understanding Abuse
This is a ten-week group for survivors of domestic abuse and for those interested in learning more about domestic abuse. This group incorporates information shared in When Love Hurts and individuals are encouraged to purchase a copy if possible.
Group norms will be formed with participants and consent forms will either be sent electronically or hard copies will be provided for in-person sessions. Safety will be created for participants and each session will open and close with a check-in with participants.

Connections
This is a twelve-week group that focuses on shame resilience and based on the book I thought it was just me but it isn’t by Dr. Brene Brown. There is also a DVD component and printouts for worksheets will be provided for in-person sessions or they will be emailed ahead of time.

Build a strong, happy, healthy and loving relationship
We will not blame and shame either partner but work together to find the problem areas in the most constructive ways possible and our therapist’s will teach you everything we know and can to help you fix it. By working together as a team in this pursuit, we will try to make it an enjoyable and uplifting experience for everyone. Couples counseling will help you:
- Session 1 - The focus of the first session is to go over the group outline with participants and to discuss the definition of shame.
- Session 2 - During this session, we start the session by revisiting the definition of shame. A handout on the shame-resilience model and worksheets on feeling shame and understanding shame will be provided.
- Session 3 - This session will focus on big webs and small boxes. Handouts on the shame web and shame box will be provided.
- Session 4 - This session will consist of defining resilience and practicing empathy. A handout on influences on how we see the world and worksheets on understanding empathy will be provided.
- Session 5 - During this session, we discuss practicing empathy. A handout on connection networks and a worksheet on experiencing shame will be provided.
- Session 6 - This session will focus on recognising shame and a worksheet on this will be provided.
- Session 7 - This session centers on exploring triggers and vulnerabilities. A handout on shame categories and a worksheet on shame and identity will be provided.
- Session 8 - During this session, we spend some time understanding our shame screens. A worksheet on strategies for disconnection will be provided.
- Session 9 - This session focuses on practicing critical awareness. Worksheets on the big picture and the reality check will be provided.
- Session 10 - This session centers on reaching out. A handout on helping others understand your feelings and a worksheet on sharing feelings will be provided.
- Session 11 - This session involves talking about our shame. A worksheet on requesting support will be provided.
- Session 12 - During our final session, we focus on authenticity and shame resilience. A handout on authenticity will be provided.
